Bar Joinery

Completed: 2011

We were commissioned to design a contemporary glass cabinet for a project we did in Mosman. The brief was to show off the glassware in a cabinet of modern design, made specifically for the house.
Drawing on Art Deco design principles, we came up with a design incorporating leadlight glass panels in a stainless steel frame. The proportions of the leadlight panels relate to the geometry of the house. The back sides were finished in mirror to give the cabinet depth. Studded MDF panels with a brushed metallic finish relates to the metal studs hiding the screw fixing of the timber floor. The metallic colour of the panels contrasts nicely with the backdrop of hand-folded zinc wall cladding. The brushed stainless steel frame is similar to the detailing of the skirting and architrave.

Elements were fabricated by master craftsmen at four separate locations under our supervision before being brought together for assembly by our preferred furniture metalworker and delivered to site.
