What can you do with a triple-fronted, red brick bungalow?
We gave the old a new lease of life and added another floor. Facing north, we opened up the middle of the house, adding a void to allow northern light to penetrate deep into the once dark interior. Then, we added a new bedroom level. The void separated the master suite from other bedrooms. A dramatic bridge across the void linked both to the sunlit stair.
Outside, the roof was reorientated and the entry made more visible. The whole building was insulated and clad to unify the old with the new.
